William Blake是浪漫主義初期的詩人。最著名的是The Song of Innocence and Experience，探討純真和歷練的問題。主要是根據當時奴隸和童工的議題做為詩的背景。

這首詩可以從三點探討：

一、創造者："What immortal hand or eye / Could frame thy fearful symmetry?" 「怎樣的永恆的手或眼」指的就是神。神為什麼能創造出如此可怕"fearfule"的東西？之後的問句幾乎都是Blake 所提出的質疑。

二、對基督教的挑戰：根據上述的質疑，也看出Blake對基督教的挑戰。上帝不是全能全知、至善至美的嗎？為什麼會創造出這種又美但是又可怕的力量去傷害小羊呢？可愛的小羊不也是上帝創的嗎？為什麼又讓小羊被老虎傷害呢？

三、剝削者（歷練）與被剝削者（純真）的對比：把老虎當作剝削者（experience）、把小羊當作被剝削者（innocence）。上帝為什麼讓小羊被剝削？這樣的比喻再引申為童工或是奴隸的問題。為什麼大家都是上帝創的人，有的人要去剝削他人，有的人要被剝削？

William Blake is a poet of early romanticism. The most famous work is “The Song of Innocence and Experience, discussing the problems of innocence and experiences. Mainly base on the issues of slavery and child labors at that time to as the poetic background.

This poem can be discussed from three points. First one, a creator. “What immortal hand or eye” refers to God. Why did God create such fearful things? We can see there are many interrogative sentences raised by Blake. Second one, the challenge to Christianity. According to the questions above, we can understand Blake’s challenge to Christianity. Isn’t God almighty and flawless? Why it creates such beautiful, but also fearful power to hurt lambs? Do not lovely lambs also created by God? Why it still let tiger harm lambs? Last one, the contrast of exploiter (experience) and sufferer (pure). Tigers are exploiters (experience); lambs are sufferers (pure). Why did God let lambs being exploited? Such an analogy can be extended to the issues of child labors or slavery. Why all people created by God, but some people exploited others, and some people were exploited? These are just personal views
